Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Hearings in Support of International Adoption
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights will hold a hearing regarding the "Human Rights of Unparented Children and International Adoption Policies" in the Americas on Friday, November 6, in Washington, D.C. The hearing, requested by the Harvard Law School's Child Advocacy Program and the Center for Adoption Policy, will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Organization of American States, Ruben Dario Room, GSB Building, 1889 F St. N.W., Washington, D.C. Professor Elizabeth Bartholet of Harvard Law School will be making the lead presentation. We hope that these hearings will mark a new beginning in the quest for permanency for every child. CAP Announces Revised TB Technical Instructions: September 18, 2009
The Center for Adoption Policy announces that a campaign by CAP and other stakeholders has led the CDC to change its Technical Instructions for TB Testing. Click here to download and read the CDC Statement.

In order to support potential adoptive parents seeking information on adoption, CAP has prepared two memos:
"What To Do Before Selecting an International Adoption Waiting Children Program and Agency."

During this past year CAP was instrumental in persuading the U.S. State Department and USCIS to change their views on the grandfathering of I600/A families in the international adoption process.
CAP also worked with Harvard's Child Advocacy Program to obtain the American Bar Association's endorsement of a resolution favoring international adoption.
CAP, together with Harvard's Child Advocacy Program, and the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, authored and endorsed a policy statement and report on international adoption.
